30Evaluation Factors
1–10Factor Scoring Scale
125Providers In The Scoring Workbook

Purpose

This framework evaluates web hosting providers—including shared, VPS, cloud, managed WordPress—and website builders such as Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, and Webflow. It focuses on performance, infrastructure, security, features, support, pricing transparency, reputation, and specialized strengths.

How The Framework Works

  1. Review the 30 Factors Detail page to understand every evaluation criterion and scoring guidance.
  2. Use the Scoring Template to review provider-level factor scores and overall results.
  3. Use Provider Categories to understand the five category groups used for category-level curving.
  4. Use Scoring Notes to understand evidence sources, methodology, caveats, and curved grading.
  5. Use the Quick Reference Legend when you need a fast lookup of factor numbers and names.

Scoring Scale

Score Meaning Typical Interpretation
9.0–10.0 Elite / Excellent Best-in-class performance for the factor.
7.5–8.9 Strong / Very Good Solid capability with relatively minor trade-offs.
6.0–7.4 Average / Acceptable Suitable for simpler or lower-stakes use cases, with weaknesses to examine.
4.0–5.9 Below Average Significant limitations that may matter for many users.
1.0–3.9 Poor / Avoid Major gaps, missing capabilities, or material concerns for the factor.

Overall And Category Curving

The workbook calculates a simple average across the 30 factors, then normalizes the highest raw overall average to 10.00. Category-level scores are separately curved within five provider groups. Curving changes the presentation scale, not the underlying relative order.

Important: Re-check current pricing, features, performance measurements, support, and other evidence before using a score for a purchase or recommendation.
